Theodoros Karounos was born in 1953 in Barsiniko, near Mystras. He studied sociology and computer science in New York, completing his postgraduate studies in 1983. He has held senior roles in the design and implementation of information systems and has served as a scientific advisor on ICT and telecommunications policy in the public sector. From 2009 to 2012, he was an advisor to the Prime-minister, G.A.Papandreou & President of PASOK and coordinator of the e-Government Working Group.
